Spark Sessions: my look

Hey dollies, I hope you are all having a fabulous day! Today, I would like to talk about something called Spark Sessions.
The thing I love the most about blogging is the connection that I am able to make with people around the world. Through blogs, I get to talk to so many fascinating people that I would otherwise never be able to reach out to. I recently found out about the Spark Sessions Canada Beauty and Fashion Blogging Conference and I absolutely love the idea of it. According to the site, “Spark Sessions is a FASHION and BEAUTY Blogger Conference and Workshops!  Spark Sessions is a series of workshops, events and networking opportunities dedicated to the blooming community of fashion and beauty bloggers in Canada.
Through Spark Sessions, participating bloggers will have the opportunity to connect with brands, PR professionals, and fellow bloggers to learn, network and share while realizing their full potential.” How cool is that? The best part – it’s taking place right here in Toronto. Today, I will cover what I am planning to wear both fashion and beauty if I were to go to this amazing conference.
Since it’s fall season and it’s getting really chilly, I would most likely wear something like this:

A simple and warm sweater on top and a pair of boyfriend jeans. Skinny jeans are officially out of trend, (according to various online fashion sites at least), and there’s nothing better than a pair of pants that look chic and are extremely comfortable at the same time. Since it’s going to be a full-day conference, being comfortable is very important. To dress up the outfit, I will wear a pair of nice heels. Lately, I’ve been super into caged design, so chic!

Since my outfit is quite casual, the focus of my look would be my makeup. Lately, I am really into gold and blue combination. I know it’s quite dramatic and out there, but I want to make a statement! This look that I recently created is something I would’ve worn. It’s smokey and fun at the same time! That amazing blue shade is from my recently-purchased Lorac Pro 2 palette, which I am absolutely obsessed with. Nude lips are my usual choice since they’re quite low maintenance. I would most likely wear dark maroon-toned nail polish to fit the season a bit more.
So that’s my overall look for Spark Sessions. What do you think? What would you wear if you get to go? Please comment and share your thoughts!

Until next time,

OOTD: Popsicle Dream

How are you all lovely people dealing with the fact that summer is coming to an end? I am still having trouble believing this, it all flew by! To pay our final respect to the ending summer (I know I am being a little melodramatic here, but I can’t help it!), I pulled together this ultra bright and colorful outfit. I hope you enjoy!

The majority of this outfit is from H&M. To be quite honest, I have already passed the stage where I was absolutely addicted to that store. I realized although their pieces are quite trendy and fun, the quality is really not up to bar. Anyways, this loose Popsicle sweater is one of those tops that I have love-hate relationship with. I absolutely love how this piece looks, but I always have trouble styling it. The cut of the sweater is extremely boxy, at certain angle, it makes me look rather plump. But anyhow, I think by layering this black slip dress underneath, you are able to see the actual silhouette of my body, and adding a darker background, it helps tone down the craziness of the sweater ever so slightly. In my opinion, it balanced the outfit and pulled it together. For a daily look, I would probably just wear a pair of basic black and silver sandals with this outfit. However, for the blog, I like to look taller and slimmer, haha, I’m so vain :P  Like I’ve mentioned before, I have very few heels since I don’t actually wear them on a daily basis, so my shoes will tend to repeat in my outfits and I apologize if that annoys you. I still hope you enjoy this look. If you have any idea on how to dress this sweater otherwise, please comment down below and share with me!

Beauty Review: The Balm Schwing Liquid Black Eyeliner

Hi dolls, how’s your day? Today, I have a review for you all. I don’t know about you but for me, liquid eyeliners are one of the trickiest parts of makeup. Finding the perfect liquid liner is absolutely crucial. Before this, I have used Dolly Wink eyeliner pen (it’s from Japan), physician’s formula liquid liner pen, NYC liquid eyeliner. Today, I would like to introduce you to my current favorite liner – the balm schwing black liquid eyeliner, and I will tell you exactly why I am absolutely obsessed with it.

For the full makeup look, check out my makeup instagram page @ranmakeup

First of all, I am absolutely obsessed with the balm cosmetics’ packaging. They all have this vintage pin-up art on them, which are so unique and adorable! They definitely grab my attention whenever I’m looking at my makeup drawers. But of course, that doesn’t tell you anything about the product itself. Unlike all the liquid eyeliners I’ve used in the past, this one has a sponge applicator. I am very used to brush tips so initially this was very difficult for me. But immediately, I was shocked at how black it is. It goes on very smoothly, and once you get the hang of the applicator, it is actually quite easy. It’s all about finding the perfect angle to position the applicator and everything else flows from there. It had great staying power, once it’s on, it won’t budge at all. Also, it has a semi-glossy finish, but not in a cheap and fake-looking way. I actually prefer those finishes over the completely matte ones. Overall, I think this is an excellent liquid eyeliner and I would definitely recommend it to you all. What is your favorite liquid eyeliner? Please comment below and let me know! Until next time,

Healthy vegetarian low-fat cauliflower pizza

Hi dolls, I know I don’t do this often, but today I have a fabulous recipe to share with you all. I am sure you’ve heard of the famous cauliflower pizza crust and I would like share with you all my spin on this well-known healthy recipe.

You’ll need the following ingredients:
- 1 & ½ cups of cauliflower
- ¾ cups of oatmeal flour (I just blended about a cup of instant oatmeal in my nutribullet)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Although in the original recipe, it asked to blend the raw cauliflower first and then cook it, it just so happened that we had some cooked cauliflower lying around. It was boiled with some pork so it had some extra flavoring that totally worked with this recipe. Also, the original recipe asked 3 tablespoons ground chia or flax seeds and 1/2 cup almond meal, I substituted all of it with the oatmeal flour. It reduced fat content significantly yet still maintained the doughy texture of a pizza crust.

We put it in the oven at 4oo degree Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes and flip to the other side for another 10. As for the toppings, we blended up 3 tomatoes and drained it so it had a paste consistency, we also added a pinch of dried oregano and garlic powder. Mushrooms and green pepper are classic pizza toppings, so we definitely had to put them on top of our homemade tomato sauce. Topping it all off with some feta cheese and grated cheddar and popped it back into the oven for another 15 min. Voila! A yummy and healthy vegetarian pizza for you to enjoy.

Cauliflower pizza, whole wheat tortilla chips, home-made hummus and baked fish <3 Yummy in my tummy :D

Dream Day Style Challenge

Hello my dear friends, how are you all doing today? I hope you are having a fabulous day. Recently, I was approached by Carolyn from to participate in the ‘Dream Day Style Challenge’. I am going to be honest with you all, unlike most girls, I don’t ever dream of my wedding day. To be quite frank, I honestly don’t understand why girls would get all excited about wedding dresses, decorations and all that jazz. With that being said, I am by no means anti-wedding, anti-marriage or anything like that. So I thought this would still be a fun opportunity for me to try and create a collage of beautiful pieces for a wedding, I’m sure it will be fun and exciting for some of you and maybe for those of you who are brides-to-be, it can help give you some inspirations. I was given three possible venues to style, including a traditional wedding, beachside nuptials, or a rustic soirĂ©e.

Since it’s currently summer, I thought the beach theme sounds like a great idea. So I put together some pieces that would really go with a beautiful summer beachside wedding, I hope you enjoy my picks. And of course, don’t forget to check out for all things wedding.

First, the most important part – the wedding dress. When I think of a beach wedding, I think of carefree style, dresses made of lightweight material flowing with the cool beach breeze, brides and brooms skipping barefooted on the warm sand, laughing their hearts out, yadi yadi yada you get the idea. So while I was browsing for the perfect wedding dress on, I kept those images in mind. This particular dress really fits my imaginations. The sweet heart neckline and the lace detailing is romantic and beautiful, and the tiered skirt looks like it will flow like a dream on the beachside. Nailed it!

Now comes the hard part – accessorizing. Like I said, I know very little about wedding, I honestly don’t know what goes with what, so if this offends you by any means, I apologize in advance. I thought the dress really speaks for itself with all the intricate lace-work, and the tiered skirt, I wanted to keep accessories at bare minimum.

The only jewelry I picked out were those earrings. I am personally a big fan of silver, gold in my opinion, is not always the most classic choice. Those earrings are simple and delicate, with a touch of elegance, they are my picks for the beachside nuptials for sure.

As for shoes, although I would love the bare-foot option, a pair of romantic sandals are a good idea as well. This pair I chose has a nice touch to it.

Last but definitely not least, the veil. Again, I wanted to keep it lightweight and simple, I think you can tell by now the key word for me here is Flowy.

So overall, my picks are rather simple, I don't like too much complications when it comes to weddings, now that I've given more thoughts to it. Here's a rather awful collage I made, I am absolutely horrible at collaging, so sorry!
What are you ideal wedding looks? Please share with me down in the comment section.

OOTD: National Anthem

Hi beautiful people, how are you all today? I don’t know about you, but nautical inspired outfits are my favorite during the summer time. This outfit that I have on is not exactly nautical, but in my head, it has that kinda vibe, if you know what I’m saying :P

I scored this sheer blouse during an American Apparel warehouse sale. Although I’m a firm believer that you don’t have to spend a ton on sheer blouses, when I compare this to my $10 H&M ones, you can really tell a huge difference. Sigh, you really get what you pay for. Fortunately, the warehouse sale price made it way more budget friendly for a uni student like me.

I have showcased this shorts last year in an OOTD post called “secret garden”, I believe. I don’t care what others say, but I personally love skorts, so much for freedom in movement, and still look chic, don’t you agree? I love how the white piping kinda ties with those wedges, which are definitely my favorite pair of shoes that I own. I could walk in those for hours with very minimum pain. Pain, yes, a little, I don’t believe anyone who claims wearing heels is just as comfortable as wearing flats, they are either lying or they have no nerve tissue in their feet (is that even a thing?). But I love how those wedges make my legs look, sorry for sounding vain, but this is a sentence that you will hear very rarely from me, like I said before, I am super self-conscious about my legs.

Enough of me rambling, what do you think of this outfit? My mom said I looked like a flight attendant (in a good way, she claimed), but oh well, I’ll take it as a compliment. What are your favorite summer trends that you believe will never go out of style? Please share with us down below. Until next time,
