Nail Tutorial: Galaxy Nails (Quick and Easy)

Hi Dolls :) I have a quick nail tutorial for you all. I don't know about you but I've always been amazed by the galaxy. It's so beautiful yet mysterious. So when I saw some pics with galaxy design on the nails, I had to try it out myself. I found many tutorials out there are quite complex and very time-consuming. Here, I'm showing you how to achieve the galaxy effect in a simply and quick way. Hope you enjoy :)

Step 1: Starting off with your bare nails and shape them the way you desire. Use a top coat to protect your nails and make your design last longer. Here, I used Essie Grow Stronger Base Coat.

Step 2: Apply two thin coats of black nail polish. By using a black polish, it mimics the darkness of the mysterious galaxy. Also, other colors will pop more against a black background. Here, I'm using Sally Hansen Midnight Navy.

Step 3: Use a sponge and dip it into some white nail polish, and sponge that across your nails. Here, I'm using Sally Hansen Sensual White.
Step 4: Use a similar technique as we use in step 3, now sponge on some shimmery purple nail polish on top of the white. Remember, try to sponge it at random places and not to cover the entire white base. Here, I'm using Sally Hansen Crushed Velvet.

Step 5: Use the same technique as step 3, sponge on some shimmery teal and shimmery pink nail polish across your nails. Gradually, it will all come together and look more like the colorful galaxy. Here, I'm using Sally Hansen Pixell and the Color Institute 13.
Step 6: Now apply some finely milled silver glitter polish and use a toothpick and dip it into white nail polish again, dot some small dots across your nails to mimic the beautiful stars. Lastly, top it all off with a glossy top coat. And voila! You're done! Here, I'm using the Color Institute 3, Sally Hansen Sensual White and Sally Hansen Complete Care Treatment.

See how that easy that was? I really hope you find this post helpful. And if you try out this design, tweet me a pic @lavenderfedora.

Have a great day!
God bless,

    Sun November 18, 2011 9am to 3pm

Private Sale on Nov 16th - you need a pass.

Payment by cash, visa, master card and interac

Next, there will be a Lisa's Cosmetics warehouse sale in the end of November and the beginning of December.

Both warehouse sales are in GTA, so if you live close to this area, both sales are worth checking out. This year, I won't be going to the Shiseido warehouse sale because I'm going to IMATS Toronto!! I'm so excited! This will be my first time going there and of course I will be taking lots of photos and I will do a haul as soon as I have the time which leads me to the next thing, my birthday is this Sunday. Last year, I had a birthday party with my friends but this year, I will just go out for lunch with my parents and relax. I could really use some family time with my parents :D I will be going to the Lisa's cosmetics sale but I don't know when since this one is pretty long, I'll go when I get the time. hmmm I think that's about it.
This is a really short post, it's just a quick update. And to add a bit of fun, here're  some of my instagram photos. If you are on instagram, please follow me at lavenderfedora. I post many
photos of my life and random things.

BTW, I didn't dye my hair pink or purple. I just used my friend's colored hair spray thingie. SO yeah :P

Have a great day and god bless <3

ShopaHAULic: Asian Beauty Haul

Hi dolls :) I hope you are all having a great day! Today, I have a haul for you all. I'm really excited for this haul because as the title suggests, all of the products I gotare Asian beauty products.
As you might know, I just recently used up my Biotherm moisturizer, and since the weather is getting colder, my skin has been extremely dry lately, I desperately needed a new
face cream. I've always been fond of Asian skin care products, so I decided to go to a local Asian mall to check out what they have to offer. So here goes all the lovely products I got.

First of, I got this The Face Shop Arsainte Eco-therapy extreme moisture daily moisturizer. We have a the face shop store in the mall, it was just opened recently, and I wasreally excited to check it out. The store is really girly and bright, they have a tester for every product which is wonderful, the sales lady there is very helpful, too. I asked her what is good for dry, sensitive skin. She recommended me several products, I liked how this felt on my skin the best. It smells really fresh and lovely, to me, it smellslike roses. It's only $19 for 125ml, steal for such a lovely product. It looks a lot more expensive than that and it's packaged in a glass bottle. I'm so glad I picked this up, I have been using this for 4 days now, it got rid of my dy paches completely. I love it!

We have a couple other beauty stores full of all kinds of Asian beauty products, I decided to pick up some sheet mask. Skincare to me is very important, I never think of it asa chore, in fact I really enjoy putting on products and witness all the wonder they do to my skin. I bought my beauty diary 2-step repair mask set. I've heard great things about their two step system, and I asked the lady there which one is best for dry skin, she gave me this snail one. I know, I was quite shocked at first, and then she explained something about the snail really locks in moisture and it's even used in BB cream. It's definitely an interesting concept, I haven't tried it so far, but I'll keep you posted. Maybe I'll
do a comparison post between the 2-step and the regular my beauty diary mask.

Also, my grandparents were in Japan visiting my aunt's family during the summer and I asked her to get me something there. I go the dollywink liquid liner, you probably already know this, but it's my holy grail eyeliner, it's in the shape of a pen, it's really easy to apply and it give a very fine line. The best part is that it stays put all day and it's really black. I love this!

Also, I read from a lovely Taiwanese blogger about this Avence lash serum. My lashes are natually pretty long but they're thin and fragile, ever since I started wearing mascara, it falls really easily. So I decided to give this a try. I will definitely post a before after post on this product after maybe a month or so. Stay tuned!

Last but least, I asked my aunt to get me a good sunscreen that doesn't irritate my dry skin. I've tried many North Amerian sunscreen but they all made my skin super red and itchy, she bought me this Biore one. I heard that this changes to a watery form as soon it's applied to your skin and it's light weight. I'm kinda anxious to try this out, hopefully, my skin will like this sunscreen.
That's my Asian beauty haul. I hope you liked this post and please follow my blog if you like it. Have a great day :)

October Empties and Reivew: Biotherm, Loreal and more

Hi Dolls :) Happy Halloween I hope you are all having a wondefully sweet day! It's the  beginning of a new month again which means it's time for another monthly empties post.

I used up so many products this month, I'm so proud :D So here's the list of the products I used
up along with a short review for each product. Hope you enjoy it :)

I used up another 2 containers of body lotions. I know, I'm a bit lotion crazy :P First of all, I used up The Body Shop Japanese cherry blossom body butter. I really like the packaging, Isn't it super cute? As for the scent, I think it smells pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. It's pretty moisturzing but I don't really like the consistency. It's a bit hard to spread on your body. And since I like to give my body a small massage whenever I put on lotion, this isn't the best choice. So overall, I enjoyed using it but I wouldn't repurchase this.
Since we're on the subject of body lotion, I used up this travel size bath and body works Be enchanted body lotion. Again, the packaging really sucked me in. And I have to say, when I first smelled this, I fell in love with the scent immediately. It's extremely sweet and candy like. But as I started to use it daily, it almost gave me a bit of headache. So of course, I was really happy that I finally used it up but it didn't take me that long anyways because it's so tiny. And nope, I would not repurchase this.
Next, I used up this tube of Nivea lip balm. It's the original one and it's pretty stardard. The moisturizing ability is great except it makes my lips really wet looking which
I don't particularly enjoy. I think I'll still stick with my EOS cutie balm :D
I used up a face cream!! This is the Biotherm aquasource face gel. This was actually in a set that someone gave my mom as a gift, and since my mom is always so generous and awesome, she let me have the whole kit for myself. I know, I'm so selfish :P I really liked this face gel. There're so many amazing things about it. First, the packaging is so luxurious, it's in a glass jar and the kit is packaged in a tiffany blue colored box. Also, this smells extremely nice, it's very fresh and clean. And the texture is amazing as well, I always prefer gel and surum texture more than your typical face cream. So this product is right up my alley. It's really moisturizing and easy to spread. The onlyproblem I had was it left a weird feeling on your face when you touched it. I guess this product has some silicon in it so it feels a bit like a primer. It's kinda strange and I don't really know what I think about that. Unfortunately, this retails for around $45 in Canada and I can't afford it even if I want to repurchase it. I still believe there're many great moisturizers out there that are a lot cheaper. Goodbye, my beloved Biotherm Aquasource. :'(

Oh no, I used up a concealer. I absolutely loved this and I used it pretty much every day under my eye when I wear makeup. This is the Loreal Visible Lift undereye concealer. The whole thing is so well-loved that the words are pretty much rubbed off on the packaging. As I said, it's an amazing concealer. It covers undereye darness like a dream.I got it when it was on a crazy sale. It was reduced from $10 to $2. Now I think aboou it, it makes prefect sense cuz Loreal discontinued this product.
I remembered reading a review on this product on Beautypedia and they gave this a super high rating. I'm so sad, I loved this concealer so much. Sigh, why do they always have to discontinue the better products.

This might be a boring product for many of you. It's just a antibacterial hand wash from Dial. But this was a five star product for me. Every day I looked at this hand wash,
the adorable Hello Kitty just brightened my day.It smells like strawberry in a clean and fresh way, and it foams up. Overall, I think it's so lovely and I totally need to
go out and grab another one.

Lastly, there's this Tresemme dry shampoo. I'm not even gonna lie to you, this product is horrible. It does not absorb any oil in contrary to what it claims, in fact, it
only makes your hair stickier and super gross. Not only that, I was trying so hard to use this up but the aerosal spray totally stopped working even though I'm not even
halfway through it. This is just terrible. If you are on the market for a new dry shampoo, please do not get this one.
That's it for this month's emptie. I hope you all have a great day, and please comment below on what you think of those products it you tried any. Or, what did you use up
this month? Please share it with us.
